Centre Praises TS on Geo-tagging in micro-irrigation

Hyderabad: The TS government’s efforts in successfully implementing Geo-tagging system for micro-irrigation projects in the State was appreciated by The Union Agriculture Ministry.
The TS Irrigation Department has received a tap from the Central government for the second time for successfully implementing Geo-tagging system for the micro irrigation projects to check irregularities in the implementation of subsidy schemes.
The department has also received a special grant of Rs 50 crore for the implementation of Geo-tagging system in various micro irrigation projects across the State.
It said that Geo-tagging can help Agriculture Department officials ascertain the status of crop growth by utilizing the Geo-tagging system. It will also be possible to check if the SC and ST farmers sell land to others after obtaining the 100 per cent subsidy before completion of five years.
For the time being, the State government also secured Rs 887 crore loan through the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to expand the micro irrigation schemes in the State including Geo-tagging and Geo-fencing works.
