Adequate arrangements made by Uttarakhand Government to prevent mob violence

In compliance with the orders of the Honorable Supreme Court to prevent mob violence, adequate arrangements are being ensured by the Uttarakhand government. Principal Secretary Mr Anand Bardhan said that necessary instructions have been issued to the Police, District Administration and other related departments in this regard. In each district, high level nodal officers are being deployed and the responsibility of the officers is being ensured. The intelligence system is being strengthened. Principal Secretary said that everyone has the right to live a dignified life under the Indian constitution. In the Constitution, the right to life is enshrined in the category of “basic rights”. Attack and murder by the crowd can be seen as a vicious attack on personal liberty and fundamental rights of life.

The most important thing is that in the democratic system of India lies the ‘rule of law’. Here every citizen is expected not violate the law and do not indulge in any illegal activity. If any person has committed a crime, then the right to punish him lies with the law and not the mob. The person involved in mob violence will be punished severely under the law.

Principal Secretary Home Mr. Anand Bardhan has appealed to people not to take the law into their own hands and should not get involved in mob violence. Police are keeping a close eye on the social media as well. Do not misuse social media. Neither spread rumours nor become victims of rumours. Provide information about the elements instigating violence in the nearby police station and the identity of those who will give the information.
