Voting concludes in Telangana; Counting on Dec 11

Voting concludes for assembly polls in Rajasthan and Telangana; Counting for all 5 states on December 11.

In Telangana, voting held for 119 assembly seats for which 1821 candidates including 139 women are in the fray.

There are about 2.8 crore electors including about 4.6 lakh differently abled voters. Election has set up 32 thousand 815 polling stations across the state. TRS and BJP are contesting alone while Congress, TDP, Telangana Jana Samiti and CPI have formed an alliance.

TRS is contesting in all 119 seats while the BJP is in the fray in 118 seats. The Congress is fighting in 99 seats. Election Commission has made extensive arrangements for differently abled voters by providing ramp, wheel-chair and volunteers at all polling stations. They are also provided transport from their home to the polling station and back.

After a hard fought campaign in Rajasthan and Telangana, voting held for assembly seats in the two states. In Rajasthan, over 2,000 candidates are in the fray for 199 assembly seats in Rajasthan.

Votes are being cast at 51,687 polling booths, of which 259 are exclusively managed by women officials and security personnel. There are 4 crore 74 lakhs 37 thousand 761 voters in the state.

Congress and BJP are in a straight fight in the states. Vasundhara Raje led BJP government is hoping to return to power while Congress is trying its best to encash on anti-incumbancy. In the current House, the BJP has 160 seats and the Congress 25. Election to the Ramgarh seat in Alwar has been counter-manded due to the demise of the BSP candidate.
