Pithoragarh Landscape in the provisional list of Indian World Heritage by UNESCO
Landscape located in Pithoragarh District is included in the provisional list of Indian World Heritage by UNESCO. Expressing happiness over this, Chief Minister Mr. Trivandrum Singh Rawat said that if this region becomes a World Heritage Site in the form of UNESCO World Heritage, it will also give special recognition to Uttarakhand in the field of tourism in the country and the world. The Chief Minister also said that when any area develops in the form of world heritage, such areas can help in becoming a major center of tourism and cultural heritage.
Proposal for the nomination of the “holy mountain landscape and heritage route” to the landscape located in Pithoragarh district went to UNESCO. Accepted by the UNESCO Heritage Center, Paris, has been added to the provisional list of Indian World Heritage Sites.
Chief Minister Shri Trivandrum said that in this regard Forests, Tourism and Culture will also be made associate with the Indian Wildlife Institute and will be assisted in furthering the related processes.
