Parliament passes Homoeopathy Central Council Bill

Parliament passes Homoeopathy Central Council Bill as the Bill seeks to extend period for reconstitution of council from one year to two years. Indian Medical Council Bill passed by Lok sabha.

Lok Sabha has passed the Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill 2019 by a voice vote on tuesday. It will replace an Ordinance promulgated on February 21. The main aim of the legislation is to enhance quality of education imparted in medical colleges. This bill provides for supersession of Medical Council of India for a period of two years with effect from September 26, 2018. The Bill also proposes to increase the number of members in the board of Governors to 12 from the existing 7.

In the Rajya Sabha, the Homeopathy Central Council Amendment Bill 2019 was passed after discussion, This bill has already been passed by the Lok Sabha. Union Minister for Ayush Shripad Yesso Naik informed the House that passage of this bill has cleared the way for formation of a new council that will help in eradicating corruption. Shripad Yesso Naik said that the Government is going to establish National Institute of Homeopathy Research in Delhi, and it is planned to set up an Ayush Hospital in every district.

The Central Educational Institutions (reservation in teachers’ cadre) bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha. Left parties protested and walked out of the House over not given enough time for submitting amendments. But discussion on the Bill continued.
