PM inaugurates Indian Science Congress in Tirupati

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the 104th Indian Science Congress at Taraka-rama Stadium of Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. The theme for the five-day event is ‘Science and Technology for National Development’.
The Prime Minister also felicitated Nobel laureates at the conclave.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asserted that India is fully committed to support all streams of scientific knowledge from fundamental science to applied science with emphasis on innovations.

The PM appreciated the role played by science so far but stressed that science and technology must meet the rising aspirations of the people and address the unique challenges of a vast and diverse country like India.

Stressing on research and development, PM said that public private partnership model is being being pursued to strengthen the innovation ecosystem.

He said that India needs to address challenges for technological readiness and specifically mentioned rapid global rise of Cyber-Physical Systems as one of the important areas that needs to be addressed.

PM also laid emphasis on ensuring Ease of doing science as one of the priority areas for the govt.

Later in the day, the Prime Minister also offered prayers at the Lord Venkateswara Shrine at Tirumala. PM Modi reached the shrine after attending the Indian Science Congress function in Tirupati.

Union Science and Technology Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan also lauded the Indian scientists and their achievements. While speaking at the Indian Science Congress, the minister said that India has created its own space in the field of science and techonology.

Scientists attending the Indian science congress were very much impressed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scientific approach to solve the problems of the country and his vision to bring India forward in the field of science and technology.
