EC seeks response from 3 media for displaying poll results survey

The Election Commission of India (ECI) Tuesday sought explanation from three media houses for allegedly publishing a survey “predicting results” of Lok Sabha elections.

The Election Commission of India has received complaints against three media houses with respect to displaying poll surveys, predicting results of Lok Sabha elections.

The poll panel has sought explanation from these media houses namely IANS India Pvt Ltd, Economic Times & Swaraj Mass Media as to why action should not be taken against them for the violation of the provision of Section 126A of Representation of People Act.

The Commission has also sought response within 48 hours from these media houses. The seven-phased Lok Sabah polls began on April 11. The last phase of polls will be held on May 19. The counting of votes will be done on May 23.
