President Kovind presents Nari Shakti awards on International Women’s Day

On the occasion of International Women’s day, President Ram Nath Kovind presents Nari Shakti awards in New Delhi on Friday.

In his message, the President exuded confidence that Indian society will continue progressing towards greater women’s empowerment and will usher in new opportunities for women and for society.

Extending his greetings to the women of the country in his tweet message the President said. On International Women’s Day, I extend my warm greetings to all fellow citizens and particularly to the daughters of India who, through their success, have brought glory to the nation. We are proud of them.

This day is dedicated to woman power. Keeping pace with the changing times, women have proved themselves in every sphere of life and have won laurels for their talent.

It was a proud moment for Doordarshan family, when DD News Anchor Neelum Sharma was conferred with Nari Shakti Puruskar, for her contribution to the protection of Women’s Rights and women empowerment. She was among the 41 women who were honoured, besides 3 institutions.

Doordarshan celebrated International Women’s Day as well. Women workforce of DD News were honoured and felicitated for their contributions on the occasion. A Book based on Guidelines for Gender Sensitive Programming was also unveiled.
