Cabinet approves setting up of three new AIIMS
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday approved the setting up of three new AIIMS at Vijaynagar in Jammu, Awantipur in Pulwama in Kashmir and at Rajkot in Gujarat.
The Cabinet approved the creation of the post of Vice Chancellor for National Rail & Transport Institute (Deemed to be University) set up in Vadodara, Gujarat.
The Cabinet also approved a proposal for a 75-billion US dollar bilateral swap arrangement between India and Japan, a move aimed at enhancing the RBI’s ability to manage exchange rate volatility.
The Cabinet approved the proposal for entering into an agreement for the bilateral swap arrangement between India and Japan.
The Cabinet also approved a pact between India and France to enhance technical bilateral cooperation in new and renewable energy. India and France aim to establish the basis for a cooperative institutional relationship to encourage and promote technical bilateral cooperation on new and renewable energy issues on the basis of mutual benefit, equality and reciprocity.
The Union Cabinet approved a proposal to re-promulgate the ordinance making the practice of instant triple talaq a criminal offence, sources said. The earlier ordinance was to expire on January 22. The first ordinance was issued in September last year.
A bill to convert the first ordinance into a law is pending in Rajya Sabha where the opposition has been resisting its passage.
