FM Pant ask officials to make concerted proposal for infrastructure development in rural & urban areas

 

A meeting was held with the officials of Finance, Excise, Women Empowerment, Panchayati Raj, Urban Development Department under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Mr. Prakash Pant at Secretariat on Thursday. During the meeting, Finance Minister held detailed discussions regarding the utilisation of the share of 1 per cent for the welfare schemes for women and 1 per cent for road safety from the 2 per cent CESS being levied by the Excise Department. He held detailed discussions with Additional Chief Secretary Women Welfare Mrs. Radha Raturi regarding the various proposed projects related with Women Welfare including construction of one each security home in Dehradun and Almora, construction of child home for Divyang boys/girls in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar and construction of home for general boys/girls, construction of juvenile home, resettlement and rehabilitation of children and their management.

Finance Minister instructed the Urban Development and Panchayati Raj Secretary to prepare a scheme on the basis of changed/revised information of rural and urban areas. He said that due to the inclusion of certain rural areas in the urban areas, they will not be able to get the funds from the 14th Finance Commission for Gram Panchayats. In such a situation, a comprehensive action plan should be prepared for the provision of funds for the development of these urban villages. He said that a concerted proposal should be made for proper allocation of the budget for infrastructure development in the rural and urban areas from the funds to be released by the State Finance Commission, so that the development of the villages brought in jurisdiction of urban areas should not be affected.

Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Ranveer Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Mrs. Radha Raturi, Secretary Finance Mr. Amit Negi, In-Charge Secretary Planning Mr. Ranjit Sinha, Commissioner Industries Shmt Saujanya, Excise Commissioner Dr. V Shanmugam and others were present in the meeting.
