CM Rawat congratulates people of state on occasion of World Tourism Day

 

Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat has congratulated the people of the state on the occasion of World Tourism Day. In his message issued on the eve of the World Tourism Day, Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand has emerged as a major center in tourism, wellness tourism and Ayush. The natural beauty of the state has been the center of tourism attraction for centuries. He said that Char Dham is the center of faith for millions of people in the world. Tourism has been an important contributor to strengthen the economy of the state. In view of this, tourism has been given industry status in the state. Uttarakhand has been declared as the “Most Friendly State for Film Shooting” by the Government of India. About 80 films, including 12 large banner films, have been shot in the state in the last one year.

On this occasion, Chief Minister called on the people that “Atithi Devo Bhava” has been our tradition and we have to maintain this tradition forever. He said that the main purpose of celebrating the Tourism Day is to make people aware of the importance of tourism in the world. He said that tourism has an important role in social, cultural and economic development of any country.

Chief Minister said that our effort is to make Uttarakhand’s tourism a source of economic activity for local residents throughout the year. This year, about 25 lakh devotees have visited Char Dham in Uttarakhand. In order to promote tourism in the state, along with the setting up of ‘13 districts – 13 new tourist destination’, initiative is also being taken to develop many other tourist destinations. The construction of the Char Dham road project is going fast. This will facilitate the smooth arrival of tourists and pilgrims in the state. The reconstruction work of Sri Kedarnath Dham is in the final stage. It is being made a world class religious place.
