Cyclone “Vardah” to make landing between AP and TN ,heavy rains expected
Tamil Nadu: NDRF teams have been pre-positioned as severe cyclonic storm Vardah is expected to make a landfall between south Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu later today.
Very Heavy rainfall is also expected in the coastal districts of southern Andhra Pradesh andTamil Nadu .
Workforces with specialised equipment are deployed in both states to deal with cyclone. NDRF also coordinating with IMD, INCOIS, disaster management and state authorities for the additional deployment.
The Indian Air Force is on high alert and ready to geared up to face the cyclonic storm.
Fishermen in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry coasts to keep away from the seas for the next 48 hours.
The cyclonic storm is expected to cross the south coast of Andhra Pradesh By today afternoon and make a landfall at the North Tamil Nadu coast near Chennai, thereafter weakening as it moves further.
For now, the state government has announced holiday for all educational institutions in four districts.
