Chief Minister paid tributes to Kargil martyrs

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat on the occasion of ‘Shaurya Diwas’ paid tributes to the Kargil war martyrs and remembered their sacrifices by placing a wreath at the Kargil Shaheed memorial at Gandhi Park, here on Thursday.

Saluting the sacrifices of the brave soldiers, Chief Minister said that whenever required the brave jawans of the country have sacrificed everything to defend their motherland. It was due to the bravery and valour of the jawans that the frontiers of the country are safe.

Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that Kargil war was fought in adverse circumstances but jawans of our army showing indomitable courage and intelligence routed the enemy and thrown them out. The army took revenge of each and every drop of blood of martyred jawans from the enemy. The Kargil war will always be remembered for the bravery of the Indian army.

He said that when Kargil war will be remembered, the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will also be remembered for showing immense political will power. During the Kargil war each and every inch of the land of the country was defended, he said.

Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that the state government respects the soldiers, ex-servicemen, ‘Veer Naris’ and the families of the martyred soldiers. He said that Additional District Magistrates in each district have been appointed as nodal officers to solve the problems of soldiers, ex-servicemen and their families. “ The soldiers who come on leave have many pending works to do and the administrative officers have been instructed to solve their problems on priority and at the earliest,” he said.

Chief Minister said that school students on the occasion of ‘Shaurya Diwas’ on July 26 every year will be informed about the bravery of our soldiers.

Ganesh Joshi, legislator said that the Chief Minister himself belong to a family of ex-servicemen and is especially sensitive towards soldiers. He said that a person each from the family of martyred soldiers will be given government job. The state government has given land and sum of Rs. 2.50 crore for War Memorial Boys and Girls Hostel at Danda Lakhuand on Sahastradhara road. ‘Bravery walls’ have been erected in the colleges and universities so that youth gets inspiration from the sacrifices of soldiers.

Chief Minister honored gallantry awards winning soldiers and officers, family members of martyred soldiers and “Veer Naris”. It was informed in the programme that out of total 527 martyred soldiers and officers, 75 belonged to Uttarakhand while Pakistan lost many times more soldiers.

Uttarakhand Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Harbans Kapoor, Khazan Dass and Umesh Sharma, all legislators, Brig. K.G.Behl (retd), Lt. Gen. O.P. Kaushik (retd), senior army officers, soldiers and family members of soldiers and others participated in the programme.
