221 illegal encroachments demolished, 291 identified in anti-encroachment drive on Tuesday

In pursuance of orders of honorable High court, the exercise of demolition, identification of illegal encroachments and illegal constructions on footpaths, lanes and roads for general public and sealing of illegal encroachments in Dehradun city by Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun and district administration has been going on.

Under the anti-encroachment drive on Tuesday, 221 illegal encroachments were demolished and 291 illegal encroachments were identified. Out of these 74 illegal encroachments on Chakrata road and 147 illegal encroachments on Raipur road were demolished.

Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash personally supervised the demolition work of illegal encroachments, sealing and identification on the ground. Om Prakash instructed that on the main roads where illegal encroachments have been removed, the work to shift the electricity poles should be done as per the norms immediately. Om Prakash asked the officials of the PWD department to remove the debris of the demolished illegal encroachments from the road so that general public do not face any inconvenience.

Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash inspected the demolition of illegal encroachments, identification and sealing work in Karanpur market. He instructed the power department officials that shifting of poles in Karanpur market should be done in such a manner that the carriage way of the market is not reduced from 7.5 meters at any cost so that there is no hindrance in plying of vehicles. He said that an executive engineer of power department should be appointed to look after the work.

Om Prakash asked the Managing Director of Power department that estimates of works related to their department for Karanpur Market after the demolition drive should be submitted to him so that further action is initiated.

Taking cognizance of the reports published in newspapers, he instructed the officials that the work of demolition of illegal encroachments, identification and sealing work at Paltan Bazar and Premnagar market should be done in the presence and supervision of Additional District Magistrate (ADM) and SSP.

Ashish Srivastava, Chief of Task Force to remove encroachments who is also vice-president of Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority , District Magistrate S.A.Murugesan, Under Secretary Dinesh Kumar Punetha and officials of PWD, Power and others connected with the anti-encroachment drive were present on the occasion.
