67 illegal encroachments demolished, 133 encroachments identified in Dehradun on Sunday

In pursuance of orders of honorable High court, Mussoorie- Dehradun Development Authority, Municipal Corporation, Dehradun and district administration has initiated action to demolish illegal encroachments and illegal constructions on footpaths, lanes and roads in Dehradun city.
About the anti-encroachment drive, Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash informed that on Sunday , 67 illegal encroachments were demolished by 320 workers. A total of 133 encroachments were identified by 788 workers and sealing of two buildings were done by 77 employees.
Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that work of removing encroachments by buildings and on public spaces is being undertaken as per the orders of the honorable high court in Dehradun. He said that since the pressure of traffic was less on Sunday, the anti-encroachment drive was taken up vigorously. The identification of encroachments and sealing was also done.
He said that wherever anti-encroachment drive was undertaken, traffic was diverted in that area so that traffic was not disrupted and the demolition work is also carried out smoothly. He further said that general public is supporting the demolition drive against illegal encroachments. He hoped that public would continue to support the administration in this drive in future also.
He said that if those people whose buildings have been identified for demolition wants to meet him, then their problems will be solved as per the rules.
He said that wherever the anti-encroachment drive is being undertaken, traffic is being diverted so that anti-encroachment work as well the traffic remain unaffected. He appealed to the people to support the anti-encroachment drive and keep patience so that the road widening and beautification work could be speeded up. He said that the general public is supporting the anti-encroachment drive and hoped that in future also people will support the administration in the move. He further said that anti-encroachment drive within the limits of Dehradun Municipal Corporation will continue till each and every encroachment is removed.
He said that if those people whose buildings have been identified for demolition wants to meet him, then their problems will be solved as per the rules.
Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that after the anti-encroachment and demolition drive, the work of road widening and beautification will be done speedily. This will benefit general public. He said that after the demolition of encroachments, the road widening will help ease traffic congestion and traffic jams on the roads. “ The roads of Dehradun will be encroachment free,” he said.
Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that if any of the employee or officials of the departments concerned with the anti-encroachment drive was found concealing information about illegal constructions or encroachments, helping encroachers in any way or any case coming to light of violation of the orders of the honorable High court, strict action would be taken against the concerned employee/officials for working against the high court orders.
Ashish Srivastava, Chief of Task Force to remove encroachments who is also vice-president of Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority said that pillars are being erected at those placed where encroachments are removed so that till the widening of roads fresh encroachments are not done. He said that as per the instructions of Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash marking of such pillars is being done.
