Cabinet nod to Human Rights Amendment Bill
The Cabinet has approved the Protection of Human Rights Bill, 2018 for better protection and promotion of human rights in the country.
The Amendment will strengthen the Human Rights Institutions of India further for the effective discharge of their mandates, roles and responsibilities.
The cabinet in its meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday also approved right-sizing the Competition Commission of India from one chairperson and six members to one chairperson and three members. The reduction of three posts in the Commission is expected to boost the Minimum Government – Maximum Governance.
Cabinet has also approved the transfer of administrative control of Hemisphere Properties India to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs after infusion of equity amounting to Rs. 700 crore.
