Venkaiah Naidu inaugurates RNU Dehradun

Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday inaugurated the new building of Doordarshan and All India Radio Kendra in Dehradun.

Naidu dedicated to people of Uttarakhand the newly built studio of All India Radio and regional news unit of Doordarshan. The new units will ensure a better coverage of Uttarakhand news and events and a better dissemination of information among the remotest areas of the hill state.

Addressing the gathering Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu said accurate and correct information is an ammunition against the challenges a society faces.

Naidu said that the Doordarshan Uttarakhand will soon become a 24×7 channel.

Complimenting Doordarshan and All India Radio for their credibility and reliability Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said no one can be better than the public service broadcasters.

Rawat said that Doordarshan and All India Radio units will help better popularise and promote the local culture and heritage of the state.

Venkaiah Naidu also expressed displeasure over the status of implementation of Central plans in states including Uttarakhand. He said keeping this in mind concerned authorities and departments have been give specific timelines to meet their goals.

Venkaiah Naidu also said that Prime Minister Modi has taken several initiatives to ensure that states have more powers and they have the required freedom to go ahead with their plans and schemes. Naidu also announced sanctioning of funds under various heads to Uttarakhand.
