Harish Rao appeals to centre on GST and cash shortage

Telangana minister for Irrigation, Legislative Affairs, and Marketing Minister Harish Rao appealed to the Union government for exempting GST on fertilizers and other farm based equipment. He also spoke about the cash shortage in the banks across the state. Harish Rao visited Siddipet constituency to inaugurate newly constructed District Cooperative Bank and while speaking he said that the Union Finance Ministry didn’t take into consideration the state’s positive decision of exempting GST on farm based requirements even after raising the proposal on several rounds of GST.

He said that the farmers across the nations are already facing many problems and GST will act as an additional burden on them. Harish Rao mentioned that the banks across the state are unable to provide the farmers with cash as they are facing cash shortage. He demanded the Union Government to provide Rs 6000cr to the state immediately and asked Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Dattatreya to use their power in doing so. He said that he doesn’t want a situation in the Telangana state like in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka where police lathi charged the farmers to curb their agitation. He demanded the Union Government to provide Minimum Support Price (MSP) to turmeric and chilli crops.
