PM greets nation on Ramzan & Jagannath Yatra
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted the nation on the occasion of Ramzan and Jagannath Yatra, and said that, diversity makes India unique.
During his monthly radio address ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the Prime Minister called on people to follow the example of Mubarakpur village in Uttar Pradesh where locals worked towards turning their village Open defecation Free in the month of Ramzan.
On the auspicious occasion of Ramzan, Prime Minister Modi said that this is a month of charity and of bringing happiness to others. Extending Eid greetings to the nation, he hailed the people of Bijnaur’s Mubarakpur village in Uttar Pradesh who have turned their village Open defecation Free in the month of Ramzan.
PM Modi said till now five states have been declared Open Defecation Free in the country. He congratulated everyone involved in accomplishing this great feat.
The Prime Minister also hailed the Swachhta Mission which is rapidly turning into a people’s movement. He also congratulated people of Vijayanagaram district of Andhra Pradesh who have achieved the target of building 10 thousand domestic toilets in 71 village Panchayats, in 100 hours.
The annual Rath Yatra festival kick started in Odisha’s pilgrim town of Puri with much fanfare. Prime Minister in his Mann ki Baat programme said that Lord Jagannath is God of the poor.
He said the fact that the festival is now celebrated in several countries clearly show that people worldwide have accepted Lord Jagannath’s generosity.
