Prime Minister Modi lauds women’s role in all spheres of life; Says, modern India is progressing through women empowerment; Exhorts people to work for development of society.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded women’s role in all spheres of life. Speaking at the golden jubilee of the ladies wing’ of the Indian Merchant Chamber via video conferencing, the Prime minister said that women are free to retain their maiden names in their passports after the marriage.

To ensure that women are at the centre of developmental schemes, the Prime Minister said his government is working in different ways to empower them through various schemes like Mudra and Ujjwala, among others. He appealed to the women to work for poverty removal using their entrepreneurial skills. He exhorted them to move further onward by setting their sights on 2022.
