Restrictions further eased in Jammu and Kashmir

Restrictions were eased in most areas of Kashmir with barricades being lifted and the movement of people and traffic increasing gradually.

The situation was peaceful and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the Kashmir Valley but markets remained shut and mobile and internet services suspended for the 18th day.

In view of the improving situation, the movement of people and traffic was slowly increasing in the city and other district headquarters of the Valley.

Public transport stayed off the roads, but a few inter-district cabs and auto-rickshaws were seen plying in some areas.

The attendance of teachers in schools up to middle class-level and employees in government offices was also improving.

However, most students stayed away due to the prevailing situation.Barricades have been removed from uptown and civil lines areas of the city as well as from most areas in other districts.

However, the deployment of security forces continues to avoid any law and order problems.Apart from Srinagar the situation seems to be peaceful and calm in other parts of the valley too.

In Kupwara which was seen violent protests and clashes with security forces in the past , the situation is normal and nothing untoward has been reported from the district so far.

The youth are now more concerned about their career and job prospects.The situation in Jammu continues to be calm and peaceful.

The schools are once again bristling with activity of students who seem to happy to be back with studies.

Shops and other business establishments remain shut though there is no strike call by any separatist group or other organisation and the siutuation in the valley continue to remain calm and peaceful.
