Political parties raise campaign Pitch
Congress and other political parties in the electoral fray too accelerated their campaigning for the 6 remaining phases. Rallies, road shows and media interactions took place in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, UP and Bihar. Meanwhile, Congress and AAP could not reach pre-poll alliances in Delhi and Haryana. AAP instead entered a tie-up with Jannayak Janata Party in Haryana.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is pulling out all stops on the campaign trail to boost NDA’s chances in the remaining 6 phases of polling in the General Elections…..the other parties in the fray too are not leaving anything to chance.
National and regional parties are reaching out to people….through rallies and road shows. Congress President Rahul Gandhi addressed a poll rally in Krishnagiri….in Tamil Nadu.
Congress and DMK are fighting the elections together in the state. Addressing the rally, Congress President Rahul Gandhi promised that if the Congress is voted to power it will safeguard the interests of farmers and ensure social justice.
Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee campaigned for her party in Kurseong in West Bengal. Addressing a rally, she took on the Centre and outlined the achievements of her state govt.
She claimed that her govt has delivered on her promises. With UP set to vote in 6 more phases, electioneering picked up pace in the state.
SP President Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati campaigned for the mahagathbandhan. Akhilesh campaigned in Pilibhit on Friday canvassing for votes for the grand alliance.
In Bihar too, political parties continued their poll posturing. In a media interaction, RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav trained his guns on JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar and the Centre while claiming that the mahagathbandhan has made its presence felt in the first phase of polling.
In Delhi, polling day may still be some distance away, but political activities are far from moderate. After weeks of negotiations, the Congress declared it won’t fight the Lok Sabha election in alliance with Aam Aadmi Party and would field candidates on all 7 seats in the national capital.
One reason behind the coalition talks not succeeding is believed to be Congress rejecting AAP’s demand for a respectable share of seats in Haryana. AAP has now entered into a pre-poll alliance with Jannayak Janata Party in Haryana.
They have agreed on a 7 – 3 seats formula. The tie-up was announced by MP Dushyant Chautala and AAP leader Gopal Rai. A joint committee of both the parties would zero in on which party will contest on which seat within the next 2 to 3 days.
