President Kovind presents Swachh Survekshan Awards 2019
Indore bags the Swachh Survekshan award 2019 for cleanest city while Bhopal gets award for the cleanest state capital; President Ram Nath Kovind confers Swach Survekshan Awards in New Delhi; Says, cleanliness should become a part of behaviour and nature.
President Ram Nath Kovind today gave away Swachh Sarvekshan Awards 2019 in New Delhi.
Indore has bagged the cleanest city award while Ahmedabad has been named the cleanest city with population more than ten lakh. Ujjain has been awarded in the category of cities having population between 3 lakh to 10 lakh.
Bhopal has been named the cleanest capital.Gauchar has been selected as the cleanest Ganga city under the Nanami Gange Campaign.
Among the states, Chhattisgarh has bagged the top spot in the category of best performing states. Jharkhand is at the second spot while Maharashtra is at the third.
The survey to pick the cleanest cities across the country is the largest in the world which covered over 4200 cities. The survey went on for 28 days.The completely digitised and paperless survey saw massive participation of people.Complimenting sanitation workers and Swachhagrahis, the President called for making cleanliness a habit and part of behavior.The President said that people should have a sense of pride for Swachhta. He also stressed the need to make cleanliness a part of school curriculum.
