Nation remembers victims of 26/11 attacks, rich tributes paid to martyrs

Ten years have passed but the wounds are still far from totally healed.

Nation remembered the dastardly 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks as the global call for bringing the perperators to book has grown louder and shriller.

In Mumbai, the city which bore the brunt of Pakistan’s sponsored attack, functions were organized to remember the victims and pay tributes to the security personnal who made supreme sacrifice while battling the terrorists.

A function was held at Police Gymkhana in Mumbai where tributes were paid to the policemen who laid down their lives securing the city.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis lead the city in remembering the martyrs and assuring the city that such attacks will not happen in future.

The first phase of a memorial dedicated to the victims of the 26/11 terror attack will be inaugurated Monday at the Nariman House in south Mumbai’s Colaba area.

The Nariman House, which houses an outreach centre of the Jewish Chabad movement, was one of the theatres of terror on November 26, 2008, its siege ending with NSG commandos storming the building and gunning down two terrorists who had taken its residents hostage.

On the evening of November 26, 2008, two terrorists — Babar Imran and Nasir — had raided the Jewish centre at the Nariman House and killed four of its residents, including Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his pregnant wife Rivka.

Their son Moshe, who was two years of age at that time, had survived the attack after being rescued by his Indian nanny, Sandra Samuel.
