M Rawat inaugurate Drone Application Research Centre and Cyber Security Centre
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the Drone Application Research Centre and Cyber Security Centre at Information Technology Bhawan at IT Park here on Monday. The Drone Training Centre and Research laboratory has been established with support from National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO).
Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that Drone Training Centre in Uttarakhand is the first centre in the country where training from ten days to three months period will be provided. He said that this will benefit youth and technical education and increase the avenue of employment. He said that polytechnique colleges will also be selected to provide drone application programme. He said that the Cyber Security Centre will help keep a check on cyber crime and nab the criminals.
Alok Joshi, President of NTRO said that cyber security and drone application are concepts of smart policing and there was need for cyber security and drone application centre at Dehradun. He said that cyber security cannot be run depending upon only a single organization and there is need to train a large number of people. He said that NTRO is ever ready to help the police and hoped that the centre will become a hub of drone activity and research in the coming days.
Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh said that there is steep increase in the demand of cyber security experts. He said that there are many challenges before Uttarakhand to check cyber crimes. He said that with the establishment of Drone Application Research centre and Cyber Security Centre, more opportunities will be available for Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand government and NTRO had signed a MOU in December 2017 for setting up Drone Research Laboratory and Training centre. This included setting up of ultra- modern centre for drone research, setting up of a training centre with latest technology, forest survey, use and development of drone for rescue and relief during disasters. The government propose to train students, police, forest, disaster management and security personnel at the Drone Research Training Centre. The Drone Laboratory will help deployment of security forces in remote and far flung areas based on real time information through satellite, keep eye on forest, vigilance against forest smugglers and disaster management.
For Cyber Security Training Centre, MOU was signed between Uttarkhand government and National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC), Government of India in December 2017. It was aimed at providing infrastructure for important information and help maintain cyber cleanliness. The police, IT, government servants and students will be trained in the investigation of cyber crime and finer points of cyber security. This will help check growing cyber crime in the state as well as in the country including cyber crime, cyber fraud and cyber threats. This will also play an important role in cyber crime police stations, cyber crime investigations and forensic in the state and the country. The Chief Minister also inaugurated and inspected the Digital Investigation Training and Analysis Centre at Police Communication Training centre.
On the occasion, Ganesh Joshi, legislator, DGP Anil Raturi, Additional Director General (ADGs) Ashok Kumar and R.S.Meena, Secretary IT R.K. Sudhanshu, Director, ITDA Amit Sinha were present.
