We are just trustees of nature’s resources and wealth, says PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spelt out his mantra for sustainable and equitable growth at the recently concluded World Government Summit and he reiterated India’s commitment to this cause at the World Sustainable Development Summit on Friday.

With nearly 2,000 participating delegates that include heads of state and business leaders, the gathering discussed this year’s theme “Partnership for a Resilient Planet”.

Tackling Climate Change is high on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s agenda and the International Solar Alliance is an outcome of his efforts to popularise alternative sources of energy. He encouraged stronger global “solidarity” and partnerships to tackle this global challenge.

Emphasizing that global warming is one of the “greatest threats to human survival,” India is moving surging ahead on climate change.

The summit will address a wide variety of issues, including combating land degradation, effective waste management mechanisms to achieve landfill-free cities, effectively combating air pollution, measures to increase resource and energy efficiency among others.

The summit will also feature a ‘Greenovation Exhibition’ to showcase the latest technological advancements made to meet the sustainable development goals.
