Vice President addresses annual Vesak Day in Vietnam
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu addresses UN Annual day of Vesak at Tam Chuk Pagoda in Vietnam, says India and Vietnam have strong thread of the Buddhism and oriental ties.
Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu undertook an official visit to Vietnam from 9-12 May. During the visit, Vice President Naidu held delegation level talks with Vice President Thinh and held discussions with Prime Minister H.E Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Chairperson of the National Assembly H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.
In his keynote address at the Vesak Day, Vice President Naidu spoke on “Buddhist approach to global leadership and shared responsibilities for sustainable societies”. President of Myanmar Win Myint, Prime Minister of Nepal K.P. Sharma Oli, and Chairman of the National Council of Bhutan Tashi Dorjee also participated.
Vice President Naidu’s visit has imparted momentum to the bilateral relationship and provided an opportunity to review various areas of collaboration and cooperation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with Vietnam’s leadership. His participation at the UN Day of Vesak Celebrations emphasized shared civilizational heritage of the two countries.
