Uttarakhand Transport Corporation to buy 300 new buses
Uttarakhand Transport Corporation will buy 300 new buses and will hire 200 buses on contract basis. The corporation will buy ten electric and ten Volvo buses also. These decisions were taken at the 25thmeeting of the board of directors of transport corporation.
Chairing the board meeting at Secretariat on Wednesday, Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh instructed to ply electric buses for students. He said that electric buses should run to ferry students to and fro from their schools in the cities. He said that such buses should also be run in nearby towns on monthly rental basis. The Chief secretary also instructed to install speed governor, CCTV cameras and GPS in the buses of the corporation.
Brijesh Sant, Managing Director of the Transport Corporation informed that out of total 1183 buses, 243 buses are to be auctioned so it is necessary to buy new buses. He said that eyes of 2400 drivers have been tested and speed governors installed in 600 buses. The remaining buses will soon have speed governors.
Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash, Secretary Tourism Dilip Jawalkar, Additional Secretary Finance L.N.Pant, General Manager (operations) Deepak jain and other officers were present.
