Uttarakhand receive first snow of the season

Mercury drops as hilly regions of the country record snow fall, temperature below zero degree in Kufri, Himachal Pradesh; Schools shut in Kinnaur, snowfall and rains in most places in Kashmir, Uttarakhand also gets snow.

Talking of Himachal Pradesh.. Several areas in middle and high hills of Himachal Pradesh received fresh snowfall, leading to the intensification of cold wave conditions. Chini Bangla road has been closed after snowfall in Kufri, Narkanda and Kharapathar in Shimla district overnight. Snowfall in Kinnaur led to closure of schools in the district.

The higher reaches and some areas in the plains of Kashmir valley received fresh snowfall overnight. There are reports of snowfall in other areas in the higher reaches of the valley including Zojilla Pass, Amarnath Cave, Sonamarg, Gurez and Mughal Road.

In Ladakh, Kargil District received Fresh Snowfall due to which the Kargil Sirinagar Highway and Kargil Zanskar Highway has been again closed for Traffic Movement. Kargil district as well as Suru Valley had received heavy snowfall and more than 8 inches of snow has been accumulated.

Temperature fell in Uttarakhand for the third day after fresh snowfall and hail in the hill state and neighbouring areas. Nanital saw a spell of hail and snow too. The Met official said that rains are also likely at some places in Uttarakhand. Heavy layers of snow have enveloped Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamnotri and Hemkund Sahib. 6 inches of snow has accumulated in Badrinath.
