Uttarakhand is consistently progressing: CM Rawat

Governor Mrs. Baby Rani Maurya inspected and took the salute of the ceremonial parade organized on the 18th anniversary of the State Foundation Day at Police Lines on Friday.

Governor also honoured 3 “President Police Medal” recipient police officers and 18 “Police Medal” recipient officers and jawans for their meritorious services. (List attached)

On this occasion, for special investigation, Manoj Kumar Thakur, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Uttarkashi, and for best Police Station, Sanjay Kumar, Inspector Police Station Sitarganj, were also awarded.

Addressing the function, Governor extended wishes on the State Foundation Day. She also saluted the statehood agitation activists. Governor congratulated the police for disciplined and a grand police parade. Governor said that on the occasion of completion of 18 years, we have to honestly evaluate and have to set the target for moving forward. In 18 years of its foundation, Uttarakhand has performed well on many parameters of development but there are still many challenges that need to be addressed.

Governor said that there is need to bridge the gap between socio-economic development of the state between the plains and hill areas of the state. This work can be done only by providing employment to the women and youth in hill areas. She called upon the youth to contribute to the development of the state and the country. While mentioning the contribution of mother power in the creation of state, Governor called upon to make “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign 100 per cent successful.

In his address, Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat greeted all the people of the state on the occasion of completion of 18 years of foundation of the state. He said that Uttarakhand is completing 18 years today and is moving forward. We have faith that the state will continue to progress. On this occasion, we also pay tribute to those young people, who sacrificed their lives for the state. We extend good wishes to all the statehood agitators, who played a vital role in the formation of the state. Uttarakhand police has set new milestones. Whether it is cyber crime or other crime, Uttarakhand Police has discharged its duties with full dedication. Uttarakhand Police deserves accolades. Respecting dignity of Devbhoomi, police have played its role. “Whether it is a time of disaster or normal circumstances, whenever required, Uttarakhand police adhered to its duties with utmost discipline”, said the Chief Minister. He further said that today, the way the changes are coming in Uttarakhand, we have many challenges. The use of technology is increasing. The criminals are also getting expert technically. We have to keep criminals under our supervision and radar. We have complete confidence that Uttarakhand police will be successful in this work.

Two Police Stations of our state have secured place in the top 10 best Police Stations in the country. Our police personnel have made a different identity. Our police are disciplined and when required, it acts tough but at the same time it is cordial in its attitude. The police are working with complete dedication towards its duties. Today, our state is moving forward with continuous progress. The intentions and aspirations with which our youth, mothers, sisters, journalists, friends, officials, have discharged their role in the formation of the state, we are moving ahead towards those aspirations. We are confident that we will be successful in fulfilling those aspirations.

After this, Chief Minister went to the Court Complex, Dehradun and paid rich tributes at the State Agitator Martyrs Memorial.

Governor and Chief Minister also released two police magazines on the occasion.

First Commander of the ceremonial Parade was Dehradun SSP Nivedita Kukreti, Second Commander Lokeshwar Singh and Parade Adjutant Shekhar Chandra Suyal.

After the ceremonial Parade, amazing display by the Uttarakhand Police women pipe band, dog show, anti-terrorist squad demo, SDRF demo, motor cycling and horse riding left everyone mesmerized.

Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj, Dhan Singh Rawat, MP Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, DGP Anil Raturi, MLAs in large number, senior officials and public representatives were present in the function.
