Tourism Minister addresses the 164th CPWD Annual Day
The 164th Central Public Works Department Day celebrations were held in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi today. The Vice President of India, Shri. M. Venkaiah Naidu while addressing the event said that transparency and accountability must become guiding principles for organizations that are working for larger public good. The Vice President said that the CPWD has a greater role in urban development and any construction in our cities must keep the nature in mind and must be environmental friendly.
Speaking at the event, Union Tourism Minister K. J. Alphons congratulated CPWD for the excellent buildings constructed by the team and remarked that the department has the greatest pool of engineers even all over the world. The Minister added that 35-40% of the research works happening around the world are done by Indians and we are imparting the latest knowledge and technology. The Minister also said that the growth of Tourism Sector depends on the infrastructure development which requires support from organizations like CPWD which has incredible engineers and planners. Shri. Alphons also said that India has a rich tradition of great and beautiful architectural marvels from ancient ages which proves the ability and knowledge of Indians. The Minister also added that we should not ever forget the men who are doing exceptionally good work.
