By Indrani Sarkar, Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Scientists at the the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC)have formulated technologies which is dealing with the India’s rising issue of uncontrolled waste and they termed it as “Waste to Wealth.”

The BARC nuclear scientists for the first time in the world have procured a rare form of a radioactive element called “Caesium “from the waste cast-off from atomic power plants.

This radioactive form of Caesium is being utilizing in so many ways .Every single ton of spent uranium nuclear fuel, emerges from Country’s atomic reactors produces about 500 litres of high- level waste .This ought to be handled with gloves in highly secure facilities and then disposed of using specialized glass containers.

No doubt this innovative solution of BARC Scientists for generating “wealth from waste while contributing to the Swachh Bharat mission.”
