Security tightened in J&K in view of resolution against Article 370
In view of Centre’s historic resolution for abrogating Article 370 and reorganization of J&K state, security has been tightened in the state and across the country…Here’s a round up.
After centre’s historic move to revoke Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, all security forces formations in the country have been put on ‘high alert’.
To keep the situation under control in J&K, the Union Home ministry has directed all Central Armed Police Forces and central security agencies to take necessary precautions and step up protection of their campuses and movements by issuing specific advisories.
Amid massive protests by the opposition in parliament and parties in Jammu and Kashmir, thousands of paramilitary troops have been airlifted and moved in from Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Assam and other parts of the country to the Kashmir valley.
Apart from that, section 144 has been imposed in parts of J&K including Jammu and Srinagar. Schools and colleges have been shut until further notice by the centre. In an advisory issued by the centre, it has requested that all requisite measures may be taken to ensure that peace and communal amity is maintained in across the country.
The advisory also said that suitable instructions should be issued to law enforcement agencies to maintain vigil against circulation of false, unverified news, rumours, and unscrupulous messages on social media aimed at disturbing peace or inciting violence.
