Rajnath Singh assures all possible help
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had a telephonic conversation with J&K Governor NN Vohra on the flood situation in certain parts of the state. He assured all possible support & cooperation to the state in dealing with the situation.
J&K Governor N N Vohra on Saturday reviewed the flood preparedness at an emergency meeting at Raj Bhawan. He directed the Divisional administration and the Flood Control Department to ensure coordination among all the line departments to meet any eventuality arising out of flood situation. The senior officials apprised Governor about the contingency plans worked out for rescue and relief activities.
Meanwhile, flood alert has been sounded in south and central Kashmir. With the improvement in weather condition the water level in River Jhelum is slowly receding at Sangam gauge in south Kashmir.
The department has asked the habitations along the River Jhelum Embankment and Nallahs besides low lying areas of South & Central Kashmir to remain alert. Joint Flood Control Rooms have been set up in central and south Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Police have set up helplines in Anantnag, Kulgam and Srinagar districts of South Kashmir for the general public.
Rajnath Singh also spoke to Assam Chief Minister early this morning and took stock of the prevailing flood situation in the state. All possible support is being provided to Assam and other North Eastern parts of the country for overcoming the flood situation.
