Presidential election : Candidates to file nomination today

NDA’s presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind will file his nomination papers on Friday in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states.
Meanwhile, less than a month away from Election Day, the Opposition finally made its move on the Presidential contest.

17 opposition parties led by the Congress met in the Parliament complex on Thursday and declared India’s first woman Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar as its joint candidate for the battle for raisina hill.

JDU’s leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had declared his party’s support for the NDA candidate, putting a question mark on Opposition unity.

While Opposition is trying to keep its flock together..the number of parties supporting NDA’s candidate has only swelled. Apart from BJP, YSR Congress, TRS, Shiv Sena and JD(U). Even the AIADMK has come forward to back him.

Presidential contest will take place on 17th of July and counting will be held on the 20th.
