PM Modi to visit Guruvayur temple in Kerala

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be visiting the famous temple of Guruvayur in Kerala today.

This will be his first visit to the southern state after becoming the Prime Minister for the second time.

At the Guruvayur temple, the Prime Minister will seek the blessings of Lord Guruvayurappan.

Belonging to the Vaishnav sect, the temple houses a four-armed idol of Lord Krishna, having a conch in one hand, Sudarshan Chakra in the second, a lotus flower in the third and a mace in the fourth.

This temple is believed to be about 5000 years old and is also called ‘Dwarka’ of the south after the famous Krishna temple of ‘Dwarka’.

There is great excitement in Guruvayur for the PM’s visit. Hoardings have been putup at various places to welcome him.

Prime Minister reached Kerala last night.

The Prime Minister will spend around an hour in the temple premises and will offer prayers to Lord Guruvayurappan, Lord Ganesh and the temple Goddess.

As per the temple administration, the Prime Minister would also be weighed against lotus flowers, as is a popular religious tradition of this temple.

After this, he will address a general public gathering at Shri Krishna School in Guruvayur.

This is his first visit to the temple as the Prime Minister. He previously came here in 2008 as Chief Minister.
