PM asserts, there is a movement to end menace of corruption

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Goods and Services tax is not just one of India’s biggest economic reforms but also a social reform and professionals like Chartered Accountants and advocates will have to play a big role to actualize this reform.

The Prime Minister said that inclusive growth of society is the responsibility of government and his government is making serious efforts in this direction.

Addressing the foundation day function of chartered accountant’s apex body ICAI in New Delhi Prime Minister Narendra Modi said there is a movement to clean the nation from the menace of corruption. And Goods and Services Tax regime is a step in that direction.

He said professionals like Chartered Accountants can play a key role in “One nation, one tax” regime.

Prime Minister said that ensuring inclusive growth of every section of society is the responsibility of a government and his government is making all efforts to achieve this target.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was also present on the occasion.

He appealed people not to be swayed by rumours on GST and said the new tax regime is a planned tax reform which would be beneficial for one and all.

Finance Minister said that in the last three years NDA government has taken a number of steps to boost the country’s economy and hoped that GST could prove to be a game changer.
