Performance-Oriented Approach and Fast Decision Making Key to Success: Nitin Gadkari
Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Road Transport & Highways and Shipping Shri Nitin Gadkari presided over the celebrations of 62nd foundation day of National Projects Construction Corporation (NPCC) in New Delhi yesterday.
NPCC, which is a schedule ‘B’ Central Public Sector Enterprise of the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, was conferred with the status of Miniratna: Category-I in November 2018. NPCC has also been awarded ISO 9001:2015 certification.
Expressing confidence that NPCC would scale new heights in 2019, Shri Gadkari stressed on the need of performance-oriented approach and fast-tracked decision-making in achieving success. He said that NPCC has a very good track record and technological experience and has the potential of achieving greater success with hard work and positive attitude.
Shri Gadkari added that even as resources and technology are important, construction companies like NPCC must also realize the importance of finishing projects in time to win the trust of its clients and earn more profit.
Minister of State for Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal congratulated NPCC on the occasion of its 62nd foundation day and hoped that the organization touches new heights in the year 2019. Recently NPCC has got work order worth Rs. 12,000 Crore for constructions for Railways and soon it will construct a township in Imphal at a cost of Rs. 24,000 Crore.
Secretary, Shri Upendra Prasad Singh said that the performance of NPCC has improved a lot from a loss making company to a company making profits. Underlining the importance of introspection, Shri Singh said that achieving targets in time-bound manner without any compromise on quality is the key and there is still a long way to go.
Welcoming the guests, Chairman and Managing Director, NPCC, Shri Manohar Kumar said that during the financial year 2017-18 NPCC has secured business of Rs. 5217 crores and has order book position of Rs. 8537 crore. The turnover achieved is Rs. 1127 crore and the net worth of the organization is Rs. 173.81 crore.
Shri Manohar Kumar added that the company has achieved a turnover of Rs. 1103 crore up to December 2018 for the financial year 2018-19. The business development achievement is Rs. 3825 crore up to December 2018. For the year 2018-19, the target for turnover and business development has been fixed at Rs. 1300 crore and Rs. 1600 crore respectively.
Shri Gadkari handed over the awards to best performing officials for their good work in the last year. Eastern zone of NPCC won the best performing zone. The function also saw cultural performances towards the end of the programme.
