Pakistan ignores Kulbhhshan Jadhav’s mother’s plea
Pakistan denies consular access to Indian national Kulbhhshan Jadhav for 16th time; this time even ignores the plea by Kulbhushan’s aged mother.
Pakistan on Wednesday again denied India consular access to former Indian naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav who was awarded a death sentence by Islamabad military court for alleged espionage activities.
Indian government had also launched an appeal against the death sentence given to him by a Pakistani military court on spying charges.
Pakistan refused to comply with the demand saying the Indian national was a spy and not covered under the bilateral agreement on consular access.
This is the 16th time that India has demanded consular access.
The High Commissioner of India to Pakistan met the Pakistan Foreign Secretary and handed over a petition by Jadhav’s mother to the Pakistan Government for his release and expressed a desire to meet him.
This comes a day after India’s Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar met Pakistani High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit and made similar demands.
