Not imposing Hindi but promoting it: Govt
Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu says, the allegation that Hindi is being imposed is “completely false”; Says, the government has “no intention” to impose any language, including Hindi, on anyone.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu yesterday dismissed DMK leader MK Stalin’s allegations on imposition of Hindi by the Centre on MPs and Union Ministers, as completely false.
He clarified that the Centre had only notified a recommendation made by the Parliamentary Committee on Official language. Naidu added that the government has “no intention” to impose any language, including Hindi, on anyone.
The minister also said the suggestion of the CPOL was “only recommendatory and not mandatory”.
