“NO MORE GUDUMBA”: A successful campaign by Telangana Govt

It is more than a year that Telangana Government launched an awareness campaign to eradicate Gudumba which became a success story today.

Excise Commissioner Mr.R.V. Chandravadan claimed that Since the Gudumba Campaign launched, they are satisfied with the success associated with it so far and determined to weed out the menace completely.

When asked about the reason, people opt for illicit liquor, the Commissioner said that rural people are more prone to cheap liquor addiction due to the availability of affordable ranges. And for this Telangana Govt considering of selling liquor at reasonably priced’ for the benefit of the poor through the authorised wine shops.

download (27)Mr. Chandravadan instructed the officials to conduct awareness programmes in these remote villages and also ask NGOs, SHG women, to part of the drive against sales of Illicitly Distilled (ID) liquor.

The department has also been instructed to take serious action against associated with the supply and consumption of the Illicitly Distilled (ID) liquor.

When asked about their livelihood afterwards, the officials said that they are providing rehabilitation to the families depended on ID brewing for their livelihood.

The State government is also assured of securing loans for to take up self-employment.
