NABARD Regional Office of Telangana has celebrated the 39th Foundation Day

NABARD Regional Office of Telangana has celebrated the 39th Foundation Day on Monday.  The Chief guest of the event was Dr. B Janardhan Reddy, IAS, APC & Secretary, Agriculture and Cooperation, Government of Telangana. In view of the pandemic the event was conducted with 50 participants following the SOP of Government of Telangana
Shri Y K Rao, Chief General Manager NABARD, Telangana welcomed the dignitaries and participants and briefly outlined the efforts of NABARD in bringing rural prosperity through various developmental interventions that took place over the past 38 years. Expressing concern about the viability of small holders, Shri Y K Rao highlighted that while, NABARD, TSRO has been promoting Farmers Producer Organisations (FPOs) in a mission mode over the last couple of years, the focus now would be to build capacity of the existing FPOs to function as self-sustaining profit generating entities and requested the help of State Governments in this regard. He also underlined the importance of augmenting the storage capacity of warehouses through well-functioning PACS.
Dr B Janardhan Reddy, IAS while speaking on the occasion congratulated NABARD for its 38 years of journey through its initiatives in the fields of rural credit, developmental and promotional interventions touching every aspect of rural life. He appreciated the efforts of the Regional Office for supporting respective State Governments flagship programmes and promoting creation of vital rural infrastructure. He also stressed the importance of strengthening the FPOs, mainly with respect to its governance structures for long term sustainability. He said, that the farmer friendly policy of the state govt such as directed cropping, promoting of crop colonies and oil palm cultivation have to be supported widely by the Banks, and NABARD which would act as a catalyst in this process.
