Medical Council of India issues guidelines for prescription of generic drugs and asks all state governments to ensure that Doctors preferably prescribe affordable generic drugs
Medical Council of India has made the prescription of generic drugs mandatory.
The medical body has written to all states governments and medical colleges, directing all physicians to prescribe generic drugs.
The generic names have to be written in capital letters on prescriptions.
MCI has said that action will be taken against doctors violating this instruction as per the Medical Council Act.
