M Trivendra inaugurates 48th Export Excellence Award Distribution programme
Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the 48th Export Excellence Award Distribution programme organized by Engineering Export Council of India by lighting the traditional lamp at a local hotel in Dehradun on Wednesday.
While addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said that he is happy that he has got opportunity to honour such people, who through their hard work have registered several achievements in various fields.
He said that it is a matter of pride for us that 25 per cent of our total exports are from the engineering sector. This shows that our country is rapidly developing. Chief Minister said that the initiative of ‘Make in India’ taken by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has made trade easier. Export of products has now become easy. And all this has happened due to transparent policy of Prime Minister Mr. Modi.
While congratulating the EEPC India for selecting Uttarakhand for the event, the Chief Minister said that the Uttarakhand government is constantly making efforts to encourage the industries. While inviting exporters to invest in the state, the Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand could prove to be a good platform for export.
Chief Minister said that the state government is constantly working to promote tourism in the state. Uttarakhand is the second state in the country, where tourism has been given the status of industry. He said that we are developing 13 new theme-based tourism destinations in 13 districts. Electricity rates in the state are the lowest in the country. Under the MSME, there are 42,000 units in the state, of which around 2.5 lakh people are getting employment. He said that the International Convention Center is being built in Rishikesh.
On the proper and sustainable development of the engineering based industry in Uttarakhand and possibilities of export, Chief Minister released a report Engineering Industry Outlook, which has jointly been prepared by Tech Sai and EEPC. During the programme, more than 100 entrepreneurs from the northern states of the country were honoured with the award by the Chief Minister for their excellent exports made in their respective field.
On this occasion, National President of EEPC India Ravi Sehgal and President North Zone Kamna Raj and large number of entrepreneurs were also present.
