Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute gets Neutropenic Ward for BMT Patients 


 Exclusive Neutropenic Ward meant for patients undergoing treatment for Bone Morrow Transplantation (BMT) has been established in Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute.  In a special program organized to Sri Nandamuri, Bala Krishna, Chairman, BIACH&RI has inaugurated the ward today.  The special ward was established with all the requisite safety, infection control protocols that require to be followed for the patients with low resistance to infections.   The ward will be additional to already existing BMT ward that allows treatment for more number of BMT patients.


Speaking on this occasion, Nandamuri Balakrishna has explained that the new ward is established with an objective to serve poor BMT patients.  He explained that the ward with 10 beds has been setup with all requisite facilities to enable them get safe treatment.  He also revealed that apart from two government hospitals in Hyderabad, Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute is the first private facility to provide BMT treatment to Arogyasri patients without compromising standards.  While explaining the safety protocols followed by the hospital that allowed it to provide cancer care without any hiccup even during lock down, the new BMT ward will also enhanced keeping in view low resistance among them.


Later speaking on the occasion to present more details about newly established Neutropenic Ward, Dr Senthil Rajappa, Head, Medical Oncology Department, BIACH&RI has explained that as of now only MNJ Cancer Hospital and NIMS in Hyderabad has been providing BMT treatment under Arogyasri Patients.  Further adding to it, he felt that the facilities available in these two government facilities are not sufficient for growing number of patients.
