Home Minister Amit Shah gets an update on the nation’s current internal security situation from top security officials; National Security Advisor Ajit Doval given extension for another term, elevated to cabinet rank.
Home Minister Amit Shah also took stock of the country’s internal security situation on the first day of the working week. He was given a comprehensive update at a regular meeting by National Security Advisor Doval on the prevailing security situation in the country.
Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, Intelligence Bureau chief Rajiv Jain and others too briefed HM. He was apprised of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in border areas. Holding security review meeting regularly by the Home Minister is a tradition that is being taken forward.
In another significant measure, the Central govt has reappointed National Security Advisor Ajit Doval for another five year term giving him cabinet rank. According to an order issued by the Dept of Personnel & Training, it was the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet which approved his appointment with effect from the 31st of May this year. It will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister. Doval first became NSA in May 2014 and at that he was given Minister of State rank.
