Home Guards in AP are socially well protected: Commissioner
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Home Guards are well protected through various social welfare schemes, Commissioner of Police Goutam Sawang said here today.
Many social benefit schemes like welfare fund, insurance, reservation of posts for Home Guards during recruitment are some of the measures taken by the government to protect Home Guards socially.
Commissioner Sawang , On the occasion, took the guard of honour at a function held at parade grounds. He lauded the role of 1,078 Home Guards in Vijayawada city serving in various departments.
AP Commissioner said an amount of Rs 5,000 is given to Home Guards for marriage of their daughter and Rs 2,000 for education of their children.
Rs 2000 is given towards cremation expenses and Rs 15,000 for the family,in case of a natural death of Home Guard.
Rs 20,000 is given as ex-gratia, in case of accidental death.
Any accidental death or complete disablement. The family will get Rs 2 lakhs from insurance company. For partial disablement an amount of Rs 1 lakh will be paid.
In recruitment to the police department 20 per cent seats are reserved, while 10 per cent posts are reserved in Forest department and fire services.
