CM inaugurate social security scheme for women on women’s day
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on the occasion of International Women’s day inaugurated the Pandit Deen Dyal Upadhaya Social Security Fund Loan Scheme at a function organised by the Women and Child Development Department at his residence here on Thursday. The economically weak women would be provided loan upto Rs one lakh on only token one percent interest under the scheme. The aim of the scheme is to provide economic sustenance to women in the villages with social security. The scheme targets those women who live alone. Animal husbandry and fishries have been included in the scheme.
The Chief Minister also presented E-rickshaws to seven women with safety kits. He also took a ride in one of the E-rickshaw on the occasion. He said each beneficiary would get a subsidy of Rs.50,000 on e-rickshaw. He also launched the “beti bachao,Beti padhao” calendar and other publicity material on the occasion. He also distributed safety napkin kits to women. He announced that Anganwari workers would get mobile phones while their supervisers would get tablets in the state soon so that they are able to do their work more efficiently.
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat called upon the women to maintain their enthusiasm and self-confidence. He said like mother earth, women also have the capacity to produce. He said that out of 195 countries, India is the only country where the nation is considered as a mother and it was the culture of the country top respect women.
He said that women are doing very well in every field in the country. He said that while there are only seven per cent women pilots in the world India has 12 per cent women commercial pilots. The Defence minister, Foreign Minister and Lok Sabha Speaker are women. The women are also doing well in administration. He said that there three DMs, four SSPs, Five CMOs, and other women officials in the state. There are eleven percent women in police force in uttarakhand while there number is only seven per cent at the national level.
Rawat said that women have immense capacity like mother earth and there was need to identify and recognize these qualities in women. He said that the state government has started a campaign against malnutrition and a sum of Rs.350 crore has been earmarked for the purpose. He said that society could only be healthy if women are healthy.
Chief Minister also released appointment letters of 293 ANMs against 380 vacancies. A total of 481 doctors have been appointed out which 193 are womenand 159 belong to the state. The 2100 ANMs and 12,000 AsHA workers have been brought Rs. Two lakh insurance cover and a sum of Rs. 33 crore Incentive money of ASHA workers pending for years have been released. A total of 61 vehicles under 108 emergency have been provided and 111 more ambulances would be purchased. ICU units are being set up in each district hospital with a cost of Rs. Two crore each. He said that the state has improved the sex ratio which was 890 girl child against 1000 males in 2013 to 934 against 1000 males in 2017.
He thanked the Prime Minister for implementing “ Beti Bachao,Beti padhao” scheme in all the districts of the country. He said that the number of beneficiary women under “Ujwala” scheme for LPG gas connections has been increased from five crore to eight crore. Already 3.50 crore women have benefitted from the scheme. More than 7.88 crore women have got loans under Mudra scheme and a sum of Rs. 625 crore distributed amongst women in Start up scheme.
He appealed to the women to get maximum benefits from the various welfare schemes run by the central and state government.
