Centre approves release of Rs 229.05 Crore of its share from State Disaster Response fund (SDRF) to Andhra Pradesh
The Union Home Minister,Rajnath Singh has approved release of 2nd installment of Central Share of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) amounting to Rs. 229.05 crore, in advance for the year 2018-19, to help the State in providing relief measures to the affected people. Further assistance will be provided from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), based on the report of IMCT(Inter-Ministerial Central Team).
The first installment for the same amount was released to Andhra Pradesh in June 2018.
Andhra Pradesh faced a severe cyclonic storm “TITLI” on 11th October, 2018 and its two districts namely Srikakulam and Vizianagaram were severely affected.
Based on a preliminary memorandum submitted by Government of Andhra Pradesh for additional assistance, Government of India constituted an Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) immediately on 22nd October 2018. IMCT has visited cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ affected areas in the State from 24th to 26th October 2018.
In the instant case, the Central Government has provided full support to the Government of Andhra Pradesh by mobilizing timely logistics resources to supplement the efforts of the State Government to deal with the situation effectively in the wake of Cyclone ‘Titli’. The logistics support provided includes deployment of adequate teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF); Indian Air Force and Coast Guard helicopters, Navy & Coast Guard personnel along with necessary rescue equipments.
