BJP releases its ‘vision document’ for Meghalaya
Campaigning for elections to three North Eastern states is gaining momentum as polling dates draw near. The BJP released its vision document for Meghalaya. The party has promised homes for everyone, jobs to the unemployed, drinking water for every family and uninterrupted electricity.
Defence Minister and senior BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman while releasing the Vision Document in Shillong said people of the state want development and that will come with a change of guard in the state.
The Vision document, says two lakh youth will get employment in the tourism industry. Mining problems will be sorted out in 180 days, Every house will have 24 hours electricity. Paved roads will connect all villages to district headquarters.
The document promises a packet of sanitary napkins to all women from BPL Households. The party has promised to open a new government school with trained teachers, and more agricultural markets.
The Congress Party too has been campaigning in Meghalaya, with senior party leader Anand Sharma expressing the hope that the party would retain power in the state.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission visited Nagaland to assess the poll preparedness of the state. Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat said that the EC is committed to the conduct free and fair elections.
With the poll dates fast approaching, everyone from voters to the administration and the political parties are all busy finalizing their preparations.
